The Rotface Roadblock

After a few weeks of our raid group struggling to get Rotface down...we FINALLY got him last night! WOOHOO!

I died before the end of the fight, courtesy of my poor awareness...I had a little slime beating on me then ran right into the Slime Spray...duh...but at least the remaining members of the raid were able to take him down. We were so excited!

We then promptly moved on to Festergut, figuring our momentum simply could not fail us. Well...it did. Festergut is the new roadblock.

But we've made huge progress and that is just awesomesauce!

Previously, we had huge trouble taking Rotface down because we would get overrun with little slimes and big slimes and the incoming damage was just more than we could heal through for everyone...Not to mention the fact that the big slimes can one-shot just about everyone in the raid group with the exception of say, the tanks...

The Rotface fight is pure chaos on 10 man. I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like on 25man. Eeep!

And as hard as I thought the Rotface fight was...Festergut proves to be slightly more difficult but in a completely different way. There's constant AoE damage on everyone in the raid...but we're struggling at trying to keep the tanks alive after Mr. Festergut inhales the blight 3 times.

Yes...here let me explain the fight...

You engage Festergut and within seconds the floor is covered in a orange-brown fog...aka...Gaseous Blight. This does tick damage to all raid members in the room.

Periodically, Festergut will inhale 1/3rd of the gas on the floor, increasing the damage he deals by 25% each time...by the third inhale, there's no blight on the floor so raid damage has stopped...but the damage on your tanks is positively catastrophic!

He also places a stacking "debuff" on your tank called Gastric Bloat. This increases the target's damage DEALT by 10% per application, however, when this debuff reaches 10 stacks, the tank explodes and deals somewhere in the ballpark of 30k+ damage to everyone in the raid. This = wipe. There is no recovering or healing through this. Most raids will have their tanks taunt from one another at 8 stacks.

At some point he releases all of the blight back into the room, dealing a considerable amount of damage to everyone in the process...

There are spores that pop up just before each inhale that, if they explode will inoculate everyone in range against the gaseous blight. So, in the 10m version, two targets will get a spore. One remains with the melee and tanks, the other runs to healers and ranged, everyone stacks to get the inoculation buff. It's yummy.

And then there's the Vile Gas. This will disorient the target and deal damage to them. It will also disorient and do damage to anyone close to that target. So if you have a healer standing too close to a ranged dps that gets hit with this...it's killer.

Really, though, most of the damage in this fight is easy to manage. It's the damage being done to the tanks that's really the make it or break it part of this fight. If the tank's aren't using all of their cooldowns and effectively mitigating some of the damage coming in on Fester's 3rd blight inhale...they get one-shotted and it's game over. Even with a battle rez it's really difficult to recover from losing a tank.

So, here we are...at a brand new roadblock. I'm going to keep scouring the web looking for tips and tricks to this encounter and if I find anything that works, I'll definitely share.

Also, I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter! I probably won't be around much between now and Easter so...have a Happy holiday everyone!

Until next time...
