I've Always Wanted A Pony...

Everyone already knows that I'm obsessed with having cool mounts and a plethora of strange pets. I regularly farm raids and instances for mounts. It's a very weird obsession, but I can't seem to shake it so I just go with it.

Now, Blizzard recently released the Celestial Steed. For $25, you can purchase this mount through their store online...and the best part? Every character you have on every server will have this mount and it scales with your riding skill. So even with basic riding, you can still ride this.

Because I have my Violet Proto Drake (310% speed while flying), that means that my celestial steed will travel at that speed as well.

It sucked me in. Yes, I bought myself this pony. I know that everyone and their mother has it now, but I'll explain my reasons for giving Blizzard even MORE of my money...and the experience of buying this pony...because my gawsh was it an "experience"....eeegads!

The "experience" of trying to purchase this mount was, well, nuts. First, you visit the Blizzard store page and select the item and click CHECKOUT. A screen popped up showing that you are listed as 160,798 in queue and it will be 9 hours before you have the opportunity to check out, and that even at this point you MAY not be able to purchase the item. O.O yeah! I know! It was pure craziness. As it turns out, I was in queue for maybe an hour or two. I just left the page open and logged in and did my Netherwing dailies. By the time I was done with that (and a few mount runs), I was queued up and got to purchase the mount.

Finally, right? It was worth the wait. I know this is going to be a "common" mount, but you know...I didn't buy it to be unique. I bought it for a few other reasons. Ready to learn a little bit about the girl behind the druid?

I've always kind of had this strange fascination with stars and celestial stuff. When I was younger, I had plastered glow in the dark stars ALL over the walls and ceiling of my bedroom (Much to my father's dismay...apparently poster putty ruined the paint in the room...). I had tapestries of the celestial suns and moons hanging in my room too. I also used to adore (and still do) mythical creatures. The simple fact that this mount was a Celestial horse with wings like Pegasus really just made me fall in love with it.

I don't have any screenshots of any of my characters on the mount yet. But I would say this: For a gorgeous screen shot if you have this mount, take it out in the "dark" on some pristine water someplace and take a screenie of it from the side as you're running across the water. It's really a surreal sort of image. (I use a lot of Elixir of Water Walking because I hate swimming anywhere).

Aside from having a really pretty new star-pony to ride around...I've been feverishly working on grinding out this Netherwing rep. Yes, we all know Des is TERRIBLE at doing her dailies. But I've decided that I want a netherdrake and since this is the only way to get it...I've been doing every daily every night for the past week or so. I finally hit revered last night. I am 4625/21000 into REVERED! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I'm hoping that the rest of the rep grind goes quickly. 17k-ish rep seems so daunting. Bleh! But I think I just hit honored a few days ago, so that's not so bad.

The drake to the left is the Onyx Netherdrake. It's my humble opinion that the Onyx, Azure, Purple and Violet Netherdrakes all look too similar in color really, but that could just be the lighting in these photos. I'm not really sure. Since I'm working toward my 100 mount achievement (I'm at 37 I think...so I have a LONG way to go), I will probably end up with one of each. I have to say though, with blue being my favorite color, that the Azure Netherdrake will likely be my favorite. I guess I can't really say one way or another until I actually finish out the rep grind.

After Netherwing, I think I will go back to leveling alts for a little while and then start working on Skyguard rep so that I can get my Nether Ray mounts. Yay...more dailies...and kill grinding...Not looking forward to it, but I know it will all be worth it in the end. I'm currently 6615/12000 into Honored with Sha'tari Skyguard...this is probably going to be a long, painful grind...but look at this mount...it's awesomesauce!

See? They're scary looking, right? I think it would be fun to have one to zoom around Northrend on!

Actually, I don't know what I'm going to even DO with 101+ mounts. I usually keep my very favorite mounts on one of my side action bars for quick access, but there aren't nearly enough buttons...I'll have to switch them out weekly! I can't wait!
