It's only funny...BECAUSE IT'S TRUE!

I found this on www.wowbash.com and had to share it. I LOL'd at this one!

The Argent Tournament (Mounts)

Hello again! Going to talk a little bit about the Argent Tournament and how it fits into the whole Mountain O' Mounts thing...There are quite a few mounts available through the tournament, some cooler than others, but I think I'm going to need to get some through the tournament in order to finish this Mountain O' Mounts achievement.

Right now, I am at 88 of 100 mounts. There are two I can purchase for 1600 gold each from vendors. The red drake and the armored snowy gryphon.

The Red Drake is available from Wyrmrest Accord with an exalted reputation. It's the exact same model as the Bronze Drake from The Culling of Stratholme...just a different color. It's a cool mount, for sure, and I'll need to get my hands on it for the mount achievement. I'm just never a big fan of parting with the gold I work so hard to earn...really doesn't make me a happy druid.

You know?

The other mount that I can get would be from Mei Francis in Dalaran. She's the exotic mount vendor.

I've actually always had a sort of fondness for the snowy gryphon. Just the fact that it's pure white and just a really pretty mount was awesome. The sad part was that, until Wrath was released, it was only a slow flying mount. I never bothered to purchase one before because I always used Swift Flight Form. Instant cast beats the 3 second mount summon when you're wanting to get moving...and quickly.

But then, Blizz had to go and start this whole "achievement" stuff and with the possibility of getting a dragonhawk for my Alliance toon finally in sight...I started buying up and farming mounts like crazy!

So here I am, sitting at 88 mounts. I could get the drake and the gryphon really soon if I spent some time farming a little gold. (3200 gold for 2 mounts is...something I'm struggling with right now lol) But that would bring me up to 90 mounts, leaving me 10 away from the goal.

So how does the Argent tournament fit in?

For one thing, it is pretty rewarding from a financial standpoint. Between all of the dailies I think you would be earning nearly 200 gold a day, easily. Well, that's how it is for now, since I'm still working on my Crusader title. I still have the valiant dailies for the cities to do. That's about 5 quests a day at 10+ gold per turn in...it's good cash flow for sure.

So, doing the tournament dailies helps to fund the mount achievement grind. But there are so many mounts available from the tournament...I should have no trouble reaching the 100 mount achievement once I get the seals together.

Here's a list of the Argent Tournament mounts that are available to Alliance (sorry hordies...). The catch is that you need to be exalted with each of the factions in order to be able to purchase anything from their quartermasters. Not entirely sure if you have to have already become a champion of that city or not...but I digress.

Here's the list (please let me know in comments if I've missed any):

The Exodar
Exodar Elekk - 100 Champion's Seals
Great Red Elekk - 5 Champion's Seals + 500 Gold
Darnassus
Darnassian Nightsaber - 100 Champion's Seals
Swift Moonsaber - 5 Champion's Seals + 500 Gold
Ironforge
Ironforge Ram - 100 Champion's Seals
Swift Violet Ram - 5 Champion's Seals + 500 Gold
Gnomeregan
Gnomeregan Mechanostrider - 100 Champion's Seals
Turbostrider - 5 Champion's Seals + 500 Gold
Stormwind
Stormwind Steed - 100 Champion's Seals
Swift Gray Steed - 5 Champion's Seals + 500 Gold
Any Quartermaster
Argent Hippogryph - 150 Champion's Seals
Crusader's Quartermaster
Argent Warhorse - 100 Champion's Seals
(Must have earned title: Crusader and achievement: Exalted Champion of The Alliance)
Silver Covenant Quartermaster
Quel'Dorei Steed - 100 Champion's Seals
Silver Covenant Hippogryph - 150 Champion's Seals

Now, I already have my two Darnassian mounts. Had to. How could I call myself a loyal Night Elf without them? hehe

So that leaves 4 mounts that I can get without doing three years worth of dailies for the Tournament. That would bring my total to 94, assuming I bought the drake and snowy gryphon. Not too shabby...still 6 away from the big goal though.

Now, I'm still farming Karazhan every week, along with Zul'Gurub every 3 days and H:Magister's Terrace every day. If any of those mounts end up dropping, that's one step closer to the goal, right? And those are just solo farming drops. I still try to run Vault of Archavon 10m and 25m every week, and I've been trying to get into Onyxia's Lair Groups. I'm not going to rely on any of these drops because...well we all know how the gods of RNG feel about me...

I mean, I used to religiously do the daily quest offered by Gretta the Arbiter in Storm Peaks...every day...for months...and still haven't gotten my polar bear mount. I'm still trying, but not quite as religiously as I once did. I need a break from her sometimes...else when she gives me crappy yeti cheese I might fly into a feral rage and maul Gretta and all of Storm Peaks off the damn map...

And assuming none of them drop...that means I would need a metric fudge-ton of Champion's Seals in order to get to the 100 Mount Mark. I'm running low on options, unfortunately. I "could" try to get one of the engineering mounts, but honestly...they're too noisy for me and I really kind of just don't like them at all. I'll save them as a last resort because of price and annoyance level.

Hmm, I'm starting to really have fun posting pictures of the mounts here...maybe I'll post a wish list! YEAH!

One Step Closer...Riding The Raptor

Well, I tried again for my Hawkstrider from Magister's Terrace...I'm reasonably sure RNG is going to make me run that damn instance at least a thousand more times before I see the mount again. Let's pray I don't have anyone with me this time...lol!

Anyway...

Frustrated and annoyed at yet another fruitless run through H:MgT, I noticed that my Zul'Gurub raid had unlocked. -_- I honestly had no desire to go ALL the way to Stranglethorn Vale to beat up two frustrating bosses just to be more annoyed that nothing good dropped.

But I went anyway.

Why?

Because that's what obsessive mount farmers do. We go "anyway".

So, I mounted up and ran to Bloodlord Mandokir and started the fight. I'm not really sure WHY, but the fight seemed to last an extra long time. It was getting borderline annoying. I killed his pet raptor Ohgan or whatever it's called just to enrage him because he was really getting on my nerves with his whole...not dying...thing.

Anyway, after a lengthy fight...he finally went down and I looted him.

Lo and behold...the Swift Razzashi Raptor dropped!!! I was giddy! I looted him up and rode him over to the "tiger boss" (known better as High Priest Thekal...) but he didn't drop a mount for me. I forgive him this time. I never thought I'd see this mount drop! I'm still giddy, come to think of it...

Anyway...here are a few pictures of my druid and her new mount... :)
I apologize that the pictures are so dark...the only place I could quickly snap a screen shot without other players randomly running into frame was in the Dalaran Sewer...yeah...eew...

But it works...right? I'm pretty fond of this mount. Not only because it's rare, but because it's one of the very, very few "horde" mounts that we Alliance players can get our paws on. This is the only raptor (at least at THIS point) that Allies can get.

Writing about the amazing raptor drop made me want to talk about some of my other not-so-common mounts. Now, they aren't rare, most of them. But you don't often see the Netherwing Drakes much these days. It's a world of proto-drakes and other assorted flying mounts. I have 78 mounts now...I'm definitely not going to talk about each and every one of them. I mean, most of them are just faction mounts from our capital cities and stuff. Those aren't really amazingly special. I ride them occasionally, for a change of flavor, but eh...everyone can have them so they're not so amazing to me. I'm not going to blabber on and on incessantly about them. I'll post the pics with a description of the mount or where it came from or something...sound about right?

Awesome! Let's have a look at some of Des's favorite mounts from her ever-growing mount collection! :)

Swift Razzashi Raptor
This drops from Bloodlord Mandokir in Zul'Gurub. WoWHead.com claims a .9% Drop rate on this. Eeeew!
The Albino Drake
This mount rewarded to you after completing the achievement: Leading the Cavalry (Obtain 50 Mounts)
The Black War Tiger
This is one of the PvP mounts. Formerly, this mount was obtained by turning in Honor Tokens from 3 different battle grounds. Now, you can get it simply by earning 50,000 Honor from any battleground. There are 5 Additional PvP mounts which I will talk about more when I finally manage to get them all. :) It should be very soon...actually.
Cenarion War Hippogryph
In order to get this mount, you need to be exalted with the Cenarion Expedition. The mount can then be purchased in Zangarmarsh, Outlands. Previously, this mount had NO ground animation and would skim along the ground. A few patches ago, they added a ground animation for this though. Honestly? I thought it was awesome without the ground animation...much more unique. This is the same hippogryph that you would ride when leaving from any Night Elf City (ie, Darnassus or Feathermoon Stronghold).
Darnassian Nightsaber
If you've got your eye on this saber, then you need to head out to the Argent Tournament. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that you need to be exalted with Darnassus as WELL as completing the 5 days worth of dailies and become a Champion of Darnassus. You'll then have access to their quartermaster and will be able to purchase this mount for 100 Champion's Seals. It's gorgeous and one of my faves!
Rivendare's Deathcharger
Head to Stratholme if you're after this horse. I posted a quick run through previously, on how to get your paws on this mount. Kill 3 Ziggurats, some Abominations, Rammstein, some skellies and then the great Baron himself and this could be yours! Not to mention, you'll get Argent Dawn rep from doing it!
Celestial Steed
I've gotten a little grief for having this mount because you have to purchase it from the Blizzard Pet Store online ($25.oo US). I explained why I bought it in a previous entry, so I'm not going to get into that again. This mount is really beautiful when you get up in a dark sky or run it across some water! Definitely one of my faves! It's the only flying horse that I have so far! A special note about this mount...It "levels" with your riding skill. So you can use it at level 20, and its speed will increase as you learn new riding. When you learn Flying, this mount will turn into a flying mount (definitely making it worth $25 to me). This mount, upon purchase, becomes available to all of your characters on all US realms that are on the same game license together. Yes, VERY nice. Also, if you have a 310% speed flying mount...this one ALSO becomes 310% speed. Lots of great perks with the steed, eh?
The Green Proto-Drake
The fact that I have this mount annoys a few people. In order to get this one, you need to get your reputation to revered with the Oracles in Sholazar Basin. After that, you can purchase a "Mysterious Egg" from the Oracle quartermaster in Sholazar. The egg has a 7 day "incubation" period and will reward you with one of the following "rewards": Aged Yolk, Cobra Hatchling,
Tickbird Hatchling, White Tickbird Hatchling, Proto-Drake Whelp or the Reins of the Green Proto-Drake. There are a lot of frustrated people who have purchased an egg every 7 days and still have yet to get this mount. :( Hang in there, guys! You'll get it eventually!
Raven Lord
In order to get this mount, you need to be friends with a druid (or be a druid yourself) that has completed the quest chain for their Swift Flight Form. You and your druid friend need to also be honored with Lower City (Burning Crusade) in order to get the key to enter Heroic: Sethekk Halls. The druid will have obtained an "Essence-Infused Moonstone" from the quest chain - guys... stop checking your bags...It will be on your Key Ring :) and can then summon this boss once per day. As a bear, this fight was tough until I got a few decent pieces of gear, so it might not be a bad idea to find a farming partner for this. Stuns...Anzu uses a lot of stuns...and you can no longer LoS his screech. Just saying...
Swift Moonsaber
This is another absolutely GORGEOUS saber mount. I saw this once in Dalaran and decided I need to figure out how to get one. This mount can be purchased from the Darnassus Quartermaster at the Argent Tournament grounds, but you do NOT have to be a champion of Darnassus in order to get it. You don't even need to do any dailies out there. You need only be exalted with Darnassus, have 500 gold and 5 Champion's Seals. To get 5 Champion's Seals without doing the dailies, just run Heroic: Trial of the Champion a few times. Unless things have changed, the bosses each drop Champion's Seals along with the regular loot and shards. :)
Swift Zhevra
This mount isn't necessarily "pretty" or "gorgeous" but it's a little unique. This mount is obtained through the Refer-A-Friend program. Yes, a clever ploy by Blizzard in order to make us "collectors" either badger our friends into playing or create a second account and do just enough to meet the requirements, then cancel. Fortunately, my mom had been interested in playing the game for awhile, having heard my husband and I chattering about it frequently. I was able to get this mount through referring her to the game. It's not one of my favorites, but it's the mount I always turn to when I'm feeling a li'l ducky...you know...quirky and crazy. STRIPES!
The Violet Proto-Drake
This was such a PITA to get...To get this mount you must complete every meta-achievement for each of the "World Events". I kid you not! There is PvP mixed in, which really frustrated me quite a bit. I ended up begging my husband to help me get through some of the PvP stuff, and I
would NOT have this mount if it weren't for him. [For the Children!] was probably one of THE worst meta achievements to get. Seriously, look it up on wowhead...for someone who really doesn't like PvP...this mount might be difficult to come by. This is ALSO one of the few 310% speed flying mounts.
Winterspring Frostsaber
I saved my favorite for last. This is an Alliance Only mount (sorry hordies), just like nearly all of the saber mounts. I will not lie to you and say that getting this mount was easy, because it wasn't. In northern Winterspring, there is a repeatable quest that you can get from Rivern Frostwind. Alliance members start off at neutral. You know what? I'll explain this grind in another post...it's no less than epic. This is one of my absolute favorite mounts...period. The first reason is that I met a really awesome friend while grinding for this mount (Yep, talking about you, J *wave*). Also, because of the monotony of this grind, I ended up grinding a lot of the rep with a friend who came up on his Death Knight to give me the "On a Pale Horse" speed buff. It was definitely a bonding experience. So, be prepared for a really long grind if you've got your heart set on getting this one. Seriously. Epic Grind.

Well there you go. Those are a few of my favorite mounts...posted here in celebration of getting my raptor from ZG finally. I am obsessively farming the Swift Zulian Tiger and the White Hawkstrider right now. I would happily farm the Ashes of A'lar every week, but that takes more than one person. The Kael'thas fight in Tempest Keep is not something that can be soloed just yet. Maybe someday, but for now it requires a full party and it's just not something I've been able to get together. Once I get the tiger and the hawkstrider I'll put more time and effort into starting phoenix mount farm runs. Ah well...Oh and, I actually ended up getting the mount last Thursday (4/22/10), but just now got around to finishing up the post. Yeah, I know...I'm a slacker. Sorry...hehe.

Fester THIS!

Aloha friends!

I just thought I'd stop in and talk about our ICC run last night. We put together a 10 man team and decided we'd go knock the place around a little bit. Aside from nearly wiping on trash a few times, we had no troubles really. We took down Lord Marrowgar, Lady Deathwhisper, Rotface and Festergut all with only one attempt. It was amazing!

We actually got to meet Professor Putricide last night - some of us for the very first time! That fight...wow...there's a LOT going on in there. I'm going to spend some time watching videos tonight before raid time so that I know what I need to be doing in order to get through it. I can't even describe the fight to you other than to say it's chaotic.

There are green slimes and orange slimes...pungent blight...a huge monstrosity controlled by one of the tanks...slime pools and slime bombs...it's just chaos. Lots going on and the other healer last night kept stating that the entire fight is about reaction time. I think I might have to get myself hopped up on hyper pills before I go back in there, just so I can make sure I'm jumpy enough to get away from things. It's a lot of fun and really, the team we had last night seemed like they were in great spirits even after the Putricide wipes. We only made two attempts and hopefully will be going back tonight.

OH...and...I got a beautiful new staff from the Sauerfang fight (I believe it was). Here...I'll show it to you...

So that's pretty exciting!

I'm going to probably ignore the socket bonus and put 2 pure spellpower gems in there...then when I get it enchanted...zomigolly...

On pure spellpower from the staff, gems and enchants alone this item will give me 784 Spellpower.

That makes for one HELL of a giggly druid!

Appearance-wise, I'm not generally a fan of staves. They're big and bulky looking normally and they just don't generally look right, in my humble opinion. However...when they are THIS sexy and powerful...who cares about vanity?

I had thought about putting purple gems in to earn the socket bonus...but this staff already has an insane amount of spirit on it...

The purple gem I would most likely use would be the Purified Dreadstone. This gem gives +12 Spellpower and +10 Spirit. With the two gems plus the socket bonus I would have +31 spellpower. With two Runed Cardinal Rubies (+23 Spellpower) I would net +46 Spellpower. I usually hate giving up a socket bonus...but +7 spellpower just doesn't seem worth it. If I had other amazing gear to compensate, I might consider it a bit more, but for right now I'm going pure spellpower. I'm going to gem and enchant this tonight. I'm hoping we can get back into ICC tonight so I can take it on a test drive. :)

I'm a happy, happy tree right now!^_^

A Bear On A Mission...

Having just posted about the Molten Core achievement (and Classic Raider), I decided I'd make myself a little list of things I still have to try.

I've done every "classic" raid and instance already. Sadly, I soloed many of them after I was far too high a level to benefit from them aside from earning achievement points. My alts are another story...but I don't care much for achievements on them anyway.

Having closed out my Classic Raid/Instance achievements, I've decided to work on the Burning Crusade achievements. Some of you may not remember or know this, but I left the game for a few months after finally reaching level 70. There was a lot going on at that point in my life and I just didn't feel that WoW would fit in well. Obviously, WotLK sucked me back in...at least for now. Not sure how I'll feel about Cataclysm...but that's neither here nor there at this point.

I was checking my achievement list last night to figure out what I still needed as far as instances for Burning Crusade. In order to get my "Outlands Dungeon Hero" achievement, I still need:
* Heroic: Slave Pens
* Heroic: Underbog
* Heroic: Auchenai Crypts
* Heroic: Escape from Durnholde

I don't remember getting my Heroic: Shattered Halls achievement...but according to my tracker, I have it. Weird. Anyway, I think I may try to solo these soon. Wednesday and Thursday are raid nights, so I'm not sure I'll have time to do it tonight or tomorrow...perhaps over the weekend I can give it a go. I'm not really afraid of any of those listed above, mainly because I finally figured out how to survive soloing Heroic: Magister's Terrace...and the Kael'thas fight quickly turns into hell if you don't get him to 50% fast enough...Pyroblast...ftl :*(

For Burning Crusade Raids, or Outland Raider achievement, I still need:
* Zul'Aman
* Magtheridon's Lair
* Serpentshrine Cavern
* Battle for Mount Hyjal
* The Black Temple
* Sunwell Plateau

Those are going to be a little more difficult to accomplish, I think, mainly because I doubt I will be able to solo any of them. It's hard trying to find a group to do something "old school" but I'll keep badgering friends and guild mates until we get in there. I'd really, truly love to get these achievements out of the way before Cataclysm comes out and destroys my chances of doing so.

Yeah, read the notes on Cataclysm...you'll see why I'm feeling a bit of a sense of urgency here. They're changing the entire old world landscape. I really don't want to miss out on the achievements. So, that's what I'll be working on for the next few weeks I think.

I will keep you updated. :)

Much love,

Des

Mission: Molten Core

Hi guys! I thought I'd stop by and visit. I don't see anyone...weird...

Anyway, I got my Molten Core & Classic Raider achievement last night. Almost all thanks to Shadow. He brought his pally in because I had mentioned wanting to try and solo it...but not having even the faintest clue on how to do so...See, I get lost really easy. I had this vision of being lost in Molten Core and having everything in the raid come and attack me all at once...Shadow came to save the day. I could go on for hours singing his praises...but I'll spare you...hehehe!

Anyway, before I go blabbering about other random nonsense, let's get down to the nitty gritty here. Molten Core. Yum! I had never even set FOOT inside this raid, so I didn't even have the faintest clue on what I was doing. I'm sure I could have compiled a bunch of research and gone in, notebook in hand, but it's not much fun doing everything alone...

There are 10 bosses in Molten Core:
1. Lucifron
2. Magmadar
3. Gehennas
4. Garr
5. Shazzrah
6. Baron Geddon
7. Golemagg the Incinerator
8. Sulfuron Harbinger
9. Majordomo Executus
10. Ragnaros

You only really need to defeat Ragnaros for the achievement, but in order to gain access to him, you have to kill the other bosses. Fun, right?

After seeing these fights, I'm not 100% sure I could solo them. I'm sure there are a few, but I'm not convinced that I could solo all of these fights. Some of them just deal an incredible amount of damage, even at level 80. There were 3 of us: myself (bouncing back and forth between feral and restoration), a mage, and Shadow (a pally). Even with the three of us being 20 levels higher than the instance...some of the fights still gave us a bit of a challenge. It was a lot of fun, and I have to say I'm happy that I got to see this raid before Cataclysm comes.

I'm not going to go into detail about the fights, since with only three of them we didn't really have much of a strategy aside from "NUKE IT". With an overpowered mage, that's about the best strategy you can have though, right?

The big "issues" that are faced on most of these fights are curses and silences...lots of magic damage in here. The melee damage dealt by these bosses is laughable at level 80, but the magic damage isn't something that's so easy to mitigate. Couple that with curses and other debuffs and you've got yourself a mini-nightmare. That's why I'm not sure if I could solo these bosses. But you know me...I'll try it. I'll try anything!

I keep re-reading this post thinking about how pointless it is...but I'm going to keep it here to sort of mark the date of my Molten Core achievement. I'm a happy druid today!

Frenzied Frustration

Well, I'm convinced that RNG hates me...or that I'm just destined to lose rolls...

See...I went into Obsidian Sanctum last night on 10 man. The group wanted to do a 3 drake zerg. For any of you who don't know what this means, it means we defeat Sartharion with 3 drakes alive, completely ignoring the "mini bosses" and focusing our efforts solely on Sartharion. This means a guaranteed mount drop (on both 10 and 25 man). The Black Drake drops on 10 man and the Twilight Drake drops on 25 man.

We were successful in bringing him down. I rolled a 77 for the mount...and was beaten by our tank who had rolled a 99...grrrrrr! It's easy enough now that a lot of groups do it, so I'm going to keep trying to get into these groups. Eventually I'll get lucky, right? RIGHT?!

I can't really be upset about that, and I'm not, because I did get the Twilight Assist (10 man) achievement last night. I had gotten that achievement on 25 man recently. Conveniently lost that drake roll also. So I mean...I live to try another day, right?

I did some dailies and got a little gold last night and then decided I'd run Heroic: Magister's Terrace again in hopes of getting my paws on the Swift White Hawkstrider.

Did it drop?

Yes!

Did I get it?

No...

OMG WHY NOT?!?!

Because I took a guildie friend in with me to prevent the frequent deaths I meet at Kael'thas Sunstrider's hands...and he won the roll. I rolled 85 and he rolled 93.

Am I mad?

No.

Am I frustrated?

You could say that...

See, I've run that instance 40 times now, on heroic, waiting for the mount to drop. My guild mate has run with me now two or three times...so it was definitely frustrating to FINALLY see the mount drop and lose the roll.

So anyway, I am still listing it as 0/40 on my farming tracker on the side there because I didn't end up winning the mount.

I went into Zul'Gurub and beat the Bloodlord absolutely senseless in a wild burst of frenzied frustration. He had it coming. If he'd just drop the raptor we would be all set. I beat up Ghaz'ranka and the tiger boss guy again, with my guild mate there to help out. Nothing there either...so the farming continues. I will get these three mounts. I will also be smacking the smile off of Attumen's face tonight. I consider this his warning.

Mountain O'Mounts (Update 5/19/10)

Hey guys, I was thinking about the Mountain O'Mounts Achievement (rewarding you with a Dragonhawk Mount...SUPER exciting for us Children of the Alliance...) and I thought I would post a list of fairly easy to obtain mounts. I purposely left off the ICC mounts and the Trial of the Grand Crusader mount...The reason being is to show that this achievement is doable by even us "normal" players...Granted, the Eye of Eternity mount is incredibly rare and everyone hates that raid...but there are QUITE a few mounts listed here. I'm already at 88 mounts...of 100...
