Happy New Year!

Happy 2011 Everyone!

We all know that the new year is like pushing the reset button and getting to "start over" so to speak, right?  Well my druid has now taken on a new form.

Prepare yourselves...I've dropped my feral tanking spec for now and have gone the way of the boomkin.  I know, I know.  "YOU PROMISED YOURSELF YOU WOULDN'T DO THAT...EVER!"

Yeah, I did at one point.  Cataclysm changed my mind though.  I am still a resto druid and feral at heart - I actually got teary eyed as I deleted my feral spec and put the old bear gear in the bank but I was struggling so much with trying to heal heroics and I was so afraid of tanking the new content...but I needed to figure out a way to learn the heroic fights without four people's lives depending on me.  Balance was the way to do it.  It let me learn the fights from a caster standpoint, which really helps out with learning where to stand (and also where NOT to stand) during the fights for healing.

So anyway, that's WHY I did it.

Now, "most" leather caster pieces can be used either for resto or balance...so with that, I've been able to gear up my resto set really well and I've just started healing heroics again and it is going SO much smoother.  I have almost 10k more mana than I did when I started, nearly 2k more spellpower and a decent amount of mana regeneration now.  There are some fights that are still ridiculously rough for me, but I'm learning different strats on how to heal through them.  Yes, I just said "healing strategies".

You know, as in utilizing cooldowns when you need them instead of blowing them and being stuck when you need them and can't use them.  Knowing how much to heal and who and when...The first boss fight in Heroic: Shadowfang Keep is a perfect example of this.  If you haven't seen the fight...it's ridiculous and definitely a healer's fight as much as it is a dps race at the end.  Here...I'll post a video for your viewing horror...I mean pleasure...

Enjoy it?  Although this is a horde side video...this is pretty much what my first experience was like on this boss...

At any rate, healing is going much better, I'm working on leveling my darling shaman and warlock now and I will post another update very soon!

Much love,

Des
