Lovely Black Dress

This story is kind of old (from March 2009), but all of my "Pilgrim Attire" and playing dress-up like I'm a real pilgrim in game reminded me of it:

After having tried Heroic Azjol Nerub a few times and failing epically on the first trash pull in the beginning (The poisons were INSANE), we decided we'd wait until our guild as a whole was a little better geared so we could just burn through it.

I sometimes like to dress up ...as previously mentioned...

So there I am, prancing around Darnassus in my "Lovely Black Dress" and I get whispered: "Des, will you tank H:AN? We've got an amazing group for it!"

My reply?: "Totally!"

They summon me, I plop into bear form, we buff up and blammo, we're ready to go! I pull the first group and it was like..."Destinae has died." almost instantly!

...hmm....something seems...wrong.....

The ret pally took over and the tree battle rezzed me, so I jump back into bear form and go at it again. Instantly dead again. So, everyone runs to the instance door, I release spirit and run back.

When we regrouped just inside the instance door, our shaman looks at me and says, "Des, what the hell are you wearing?"

I look at my character screen and reply: "Polar v...a...lovely...black...dress!!!....OMG I'm SO sorry!!!"

The group didn't even end up trying again. I got laughed at and 3 of 5 members left the group.

The one that left last says to me: "Well Des...at least I giggled. lol" and then left the group.

I was known for quite awhile as the "Black Dress Bear" =( It was like my own, personal scarlet letter...

I installed Outfitter the very next day. =) No more black dress oopsies for me!

BTW- the Black Dress Tanking Incident still haunts me.

We PuG'd for H:UK per a friend's request (May 2009, literally almost 2 months after the Black Dress Tanking fiasco...). Everyone gets summoned and we're just inside the instance portal getting buffed and ready to go, I get a whisper that says...

Puggle: "Oh, hey! I thought your name looked familiar!"
Me: "Have we grouped before?"
Puggle: "Totally! I'm surprised you're not wearing your black dress today though..."
Me: "What??" (very long pause) "OH!!! omg!"
Puggle: "lol"

/sigh

And if that's not bad enough...I recently met up with the shaman that had been a part of our group on that original fateful night. By recently I mean, this past weekend in a Trial of the Crusader (25) group. He giggled when he saw me and asked if I still kept the dress on hand. I advised that I had replaced it with the Pilgrim's Robe for now...but it has a very special spot in my bank...the nightmare continues...Sadly, the shaman is now a former guild mate as we both moved on from our original guild. He's gone onto a raid guild and I've taken on a guild of my own. =)
